How Can I Book a Tattoo Appointment?

The easiest way is to visit darknesttattoo.de and complete the “Tattoo Appointment Request” form. You can use this form to send us your tattoo idea. Please keep it short and concise!

If you have reference images such as photos, drawings, sketches or tattoos, please attach them so we can better understand your tattoo idea.

You can also reach us via Instagram, email or WhatsApp. You may contact our tattoo artists directly as well.

What Happens After I Submit My Tattoo Idea?

Once you have sent us your request, we will contact you and arrange a free consultation at Darknest Tattoo Studio in Wackersdorf.

Consultations take place Tuesday to Saturday between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. and usually last around 20 minutes.

We will discuss every detail of your idea, refine the concept and choose a date for your tattoo together.

For smaller projects that do not require an in-person consultation, we will offer you an available appointment directly.

How Should I Prepare for My Free Tattoo Consultation?

Before your consultation, please read all relevant information on our website so we can focus specifically on your tattoo ideas.

Completing the form carefully with your tattoo idea and reference images helps us greatly and lets us prepare fully for our meeting.

How Does the Deposit Work, and When Do I Pay It?

A deposit is required to secure an appointment. You can pay it at your first consultation, either in person or by bank transfer.

Once your tattoo is finished, the deposit will be deducted from the total price. For projects requiring several sessions, it will be deducted at the final session.

Please note that your deposit is forfeited if you cancel your appointment. You may reschedule once without losing it, provided you notify us at least three days in advance.

If you do not attend or cancel at short notice, your deposit is forfeited. A new appointment can then only be booked with another deposit.

In this situation, we cannot offer the appointment to another client. This causes us a loss and is unfair to those who have already waited a long time for an appointment.

When and How Can I Find Out the Exact Price of a Tattoo?

We will tell you the price during your in-person consultation or immediately before tattooing.

Every design, body placement and skin type is unique. All these factors affect how long the tattoo takes and therefore its price.

But don’t worry: you will know the price before we start tattooing, so there will be no unanswered questions.

When Will I First See the Tattoo Design, and What If I Want to Change It?

On the day of your appointment, you will first see a digital tattoo design, which we will calmly review together.

If you are not yet 100% happy with it, we will adjust and redraw the design together.

We will only begin tattooing once you are completely happy with the design.

If you want a completely different tattoo and did not tell us in time, we may have to reschedule your appointment.

How Flexible Is the Design Process, and How Much Time Is Available for Changes?

In some cases, the tattoo design begins as a rough sketch that we develop freehand on the appointment day to create a truly unique final result.

As we allow enough time for every client, there is plenty of room for individual adjustments.

If you have given us all the important information in advance, no design changes are needed in 99% of cases. Of course, we will only start tattooing once we are both 100% happy with the design.

Do We Accept Every Tattoo Idea?

Although we are interested in many tattoo styles and trends, unfortunately we cannot fulfil every request.

However, we will gladly help you find the right artist for your preferred style.

Most tattoo styles are represented in our studio, so you are very likely to find the right artist for you.

Do You Also Do Cover-Ups?

Yes, we do cover-ups, but an in-person consultation is always required in this case.

Not every tattoo can be covered easily. Whether a cover-up is possible depends on the body placement, the existing tattoo and your new idea.

If you would like a cover-up, please send us a photo of the tattoo through the “Book an Appointment” menu. We will then arrange a consultation.

May I Bring Someone with Me to My Tattoo Appointment?

Of course, you may bring someone with you. In our experience, however, coming alone is usually more comfortable. Your guest may have to wait several hours, and you can generally relax more easily during the tattoo when you are alone.

If you feel more comfortable bringing someone, that is of course no problem.

In that case, please let us know in advance.

The tattoo process and preparation

What Can I Expect When I Arrive for My Tattoo Appointment?

After you arrive, we will first show you the design. We will only begin tattooing once you are 100% happy with it.

We usually work in 2.5-hour blocks while tattooing, with a break of around 20 minutes in the middle.

Of course, you can take a short break whenever needed—whether to use the bathroom, stretch or have a cigarette.

How Should I Prepare for My Tattoo?

Before coming to us, please read all the information on our website carefully so you are familiar with the process.

It is important to moisturise the area being tattooed regularly. Healthy skin benefits you and also makes our work easier and faster. For dry skin, we recommend a richer cream; for oilier skin, use an intensive moisturiser. It is also worth continuing your skincare after the tattoo so it looks good long-term.

Try to get enough rest for one or two days before your appointment. Tattooing is not especially pleasant, particularly during longer sessions. If you are tired, your pain tolerance may be much lower.

Make sure you stay well hydrated, but avoid alcohol and energy drinks.

Be sure to eat breakfast on the day of your appointment—even if you normally do not. At least eat something small. Arriving on an empty stomach may quickly make you feel sick or cause circulation problems.

Please arrive clean and well-groomed for your appointment.

If you have any allergies, please tell us in advance and ask your doctor whether it is safe for you to be tattooed.

What Can I Bring to a Tattoo Appointment?

You can bring lunch or something else you enjoy. During the tattoo, you may drink anything you like—whether water or sugary drinks, which help keep your blood sugar stable.

You can bring a book, an iPad to watch a movie or any other device that will help you relax. You can also bring your headphones, as good music often helps you relax. Many people have found that music increases their pain tolerance and helps them relax during the process.

Dress comfortably, preferably in clothing where the area that is going to be tattooed is easily accessible. For example, a tank top is ideal for shoulder tattoos. Choose an item of clothing that you don't mind accidentally getting a little dirty.

What Should I Consider Before Getting Tattooed?

Avoid alcohol, drugs and energy drinks during the days before the tattoo, although a coffee in the morning is fine. Tattooing is not recommended on freshly burnt or scabbed skin. So avoid sunbathing and thus sunburn before tattooing. Do not shave the area you want to have tattooed beforehand. Do not use any numbing creams before tattooing, as these can lead to irritation, bleeding and healing problems.

How Should I Care for My Tattoo, and What Should I Avoid While It Heals?

After your tattoo, we will give you detailed aftercare instructions.

You only need ordinary cling film and Bepanthen ointment, both readily available from a pharmacy. In our experience, Bepanthen is one of the most trusted and widely used products for tattoo healing.

If your work is physically demanding or exposes you to dirt, dust or oil, we recommend taking a few days off after your tattoo.

Avoid direct sunlight, the beach, swimming and physically demanding activities. Ideally, do not plan your summer holiday immediately after your appointment.

You should also avoid exercise, tanning beds and saunas for at least two weeks.

What Should I Do If I Feel Unwell on the Day of My Tattoo?

In general, getting tattooed while you are ill is not recommended.

If you do not feel 100% well, please do not attend your appointment.

We work in very close proximity while tattooing. If you have a contagious illness, there is therefore a high risk of infecting us.

As a studio, we cannot easily make up for downtime, so lost working days are a serious problem for us.

If you feel unwell, please let us know as early as possible. We can easily reschedule your appointment for a later date.

What Should I Do If I Cannot Arrive on Time for My Appointment?

If you are running late for any reason, please notify us immediately by email, WhatsApp or Instagram.

If you arrive more than 30 minutes late, we reserve the right to move your appointment to another day.

If you do not tell us you are running late and fail to attend, your appointment and deposit will be forfeited.

Choose a tattoo artist whose personality suits you. Do not choose an artist who cannot bring your ideas to life, as a tattoo stays with you forever. Quality work requires time and a suitable investment, so do not rely solely on superficial impressions from social media.

A good tattoo artist combines their own style and expertise with your ideas to create a result that fully meets your expectations.

Choosing the right tattoo artist and studio takes care and time, but it pays off—a well-chosen artist will bring your concept to life with passion and authenticity, creating a result that satisfies both sides.
